Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra has chosen to disregard the summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), opting instead to focus on her campaign activities in the Krishnanagar constituency. The ED had requested Moitra's presence for questioning regarding alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA). Despite the summons, Moitra affirmed her commitment to campaign in Krishnanagar and stated, "I will leave for campaigning in Krishnanagar constituency in the afternoon."
The 49-year-old TMC leader had been summoned by the ED twice earlier, alongside Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani, concerning the FEMA violation case. Moitra, who has been re-nominated by her party for the Krishnanagar seat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, had previously cited official engagements as reasons for not appearing before the central agency. Amidst these developments, Prime Minister Narendra Modi engaged with Krishnanagar BJP candidate Amrita Rai, prompting Moitra to assert, "the people of Bengal know only King Rammohan Roy and Queen Rasmani, they do not know who else is the king and queen."
